Made-to-order sliding wardrobes
Built-in or free-standing, with or without a mirror, floor to ceiling or up to a bulkhead — we design the wardrobe around your opening and around what will hang inside it.
Built-in or free-standing
A built-in wardrobe uses the walls, ceiling and floor of the room as part of its carcass. That is cheaper and gives 5-8 cm more usable depth, but you cannot take it with you when you move, and it needs reasonably straight walls.
A free-standing wardrobe has its own sides and base. It can be taken apart and moved, it copes calmly with an out-of-square corner, but it takes slightly more room and costs more.
Sliding doors save the space in front of the wardrobe, where a hinged door simply could not open. The price for that is a few centimetres of depth lost to the mechanism, and the fact that only half of the wardrobe is open at any time.
The interior
An interior is not planned "down the middle" but around a particular wardrobe: how much long clothing there is, how much folded, how many pairs of shoes.
Hanging rail
Shirts and jackets need about 100 cm of height, coats and long dresses 150 cm. Two levels of rail save space when there is little long clothing.
Shelves
For folded items. Deeper than 50 cm a shelf becomes awkward: whatever lies at the back can be neither seen nor reached without unstacking the front.
Drawers
For small things: underwear, socks, belts. On soft-close runners, because drawers are the part of a wardrobe opened most often.
Mirror
On one of the doors. In a narrow hallway that is the only way to have a full-length mirror without giving up a wall to it.
The short answers
What is the minimum depth for a sliding wardrobe?
A hanger on a crosswise rail needs 55-60 cm including the sliding system. With less depth we use pull-out front-facing rails, or ordinary shelves behind hinged doors.
Can a wardrobe reach a stretch ceiling?
Yes, but then the wardrobe is installed before the fabric is stretched, or built with a fixing batten. Mention the stretch ceiling at the measuring visit: it changes the order of works, not the design.
Why do wide doors start to run badly over time?
Because of weight: a door of board plus mirror is heavier than plain board, and cheap runners will not hold it. For wide doors we use a reinforced system, which costs more exactly once.

Where to start
The simplest way is to call and describe the room briefly. If writing suits you better, leave a request: say what furniture you need and the approximate dimensions, and attach a photo if you wish.
