Walk-in closets
A walk-in closet is not a small room with a wardrobe in it, but a system of shelves and rails in which all the clothes are visible at once. We plan it around your floor area and your wardrobe.
How much space a walk-in closet needs
A linear closet along one wall works from 1.5 m of width: roughly 60 cm for the storage and 90 cm for the walkway. An L-shaped one needs about 2 by 1.5 m, a U-shaped one at least 2 m along the short wall, otherwise the corners stop being reachable and become the place where things are forgotten.
Part of a bedroom or a storeroom is often given over to a closet. What matters is not the floor area but that the whole space stays visible: an open doorway, doors or a curtain instead of solid fronts, and light inside.
Ventilation is the thing forgotten most often. In a closed recess with no air coming in, clothes pick up a smell within a single season, so we either leave a gap at the top and the bottom or build a vent into the door.
What we plan besides the shelves
Lighting
A strip or spotlights, with a motion sensor if you want one. Without light a closet turns into a dark wardrobe that people search with a phone torch.
Ventilation
A gap at the top and bottom, or a vent in the door. A closed volume with no air exchange smells, and an air freshener does not cure it.
The top level
Above 190 cm goes the seasonal storage: suitcases, winter duvets. Whatever is used daily belongs within arm reach.
Mirror
Inside or on the door. A closet without a mirror makes you dress in one room and look at yourself in another.
The short answers
Why choose a walk-in closet over a wardrobe?
Per running metre of storage it is usually cheaper: there is no carcass, no fronts and no sliding system. In exchange it takes floor area for a walkway, which a wardrobe does not need.
Does a walk-in closet have to have doors?
No. An open doorway or a curtain is enough if the room is dry and not a through route. Doors are needed where the closet opens into a living room, or where a kitchen is next door, because smells settle in fabric.
Do you only build the interior, or prepare the room as well?
We build the furniture part: shelves, rails, drawers, doors. Walls, ceiling, floor and wiring are prepared by your own tradesman, and at the measuring visit we say exactly what to prepare and where to bring the power.
Other kinds of furniture
Kitchens
Carcass, fronts, worktop and hardware sized to your own room.
Sliding wardrobes
Built-in and free-standing wardrobes up to the ceiling: sliding system, interior, mirror.
Hallways
A wardrobe, a shoe store, a bench and a mirror in a hallway only 35-40 cm deep.
Bedrooms
A floor-to-ceiling wardrobe, a bed with a lifting base, chests and a table as one set.

Where to start
The simplest way is to call and describe the room briefly. If writing suits you better, leave a request: say what furniture you need and the approximate dimensions, and attach a photo if you wish.
